And I didn't....
My friend Amelia and I went to this uber down home quaint restaurant in Noe Valley called The Front Porch:
With an awesome wooden sign like that, how can you not want to love it? The night started off well. We came in and got the last table for two- so at least we felt like we were somewhere popular. And the design concept of the restaurant was very small business owner: the menus were these awesome clipboards with paper on it that looked like it was fresh from someone's typewriter, the tables and booths were mismatched, the whole place was kind of like a hodge podge of design.
Unfortunately, so was the food.
I'm feeling a bit guilty right now because in truth, we only tried 5 items there- 3 were good and 2 were not up to par. Since we tried so little, do I have the authority to review this restaurant? On the good side were the peach bellinis ( they blend the peaches fresh every night to mix with the champagne), the cornbread (made me feel like I was in the south again) and Amelia's chicken (well seasoned, not dry, but cooked all the way through). The downers were my fish and chips (it was terribly bland, served with very soggy cole-slaw) and the piece of chocolate cake we split (it tasted like it was out of the box with store bought frosting). Though the cake was slightly redeemed because it was served with Mitchell's vanilla ice cream. Also the food is very well priced.
I wish I could elaborate but I:
1) Don't want to totally slam a restaurant that I've only visited once.
2) Have to catch a plane to Denver.
bye bye...
