I’m sick. The musical is over and my body is finally making me rest. And I know I’m really sick because all food sounds gross to me.
That never happens. Even comfort food. But when I get over my headache and my nose starts acting
less like a faucet and more like something that is supposed to breathe, I feel
like I might want some banana bread. I feel like I might make it out of the
Cook’s Illustrated’s The New Best Recipe.
Most of the time I don’t believe there is a “best” recipe out there, it’s
all what you are in the mood for, but they do a pretty temping banana bread-
with the secret ingredient: yogurt. I think it helps keep the loaf moist if it
lasts longer than a day in your house.
Also, I’m trying not to be wasteful this year and I love recipes that are about taking a piece of food that is about to rot on your kitchen counter because your organic food basket gave you 27 bananas, and turning it into something delectable. And this recipe is so super easy- you’ll feel like a true gourmet because every crumb of this bread will be gobbled up! Preheat your oven to 350 and butter your loaf pan:
1 ¼ c. walnuts toasted
¾ c. sugar
¾ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
¼ c. plain yogurt
2 eggs, beaten lightly
6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted, slightly cooled
1 tsp vanilla
And Voila!
:)
So glad you are (almost) back in the world of the interacting outside of work. Michael refuses bananas after a too close encounter with an organic chem lab. Too bad, I love a good banana bread.

It is a good recipe. Kristen gave some of the bread to the cast of the show, it was really yummy. It's a good cookbook too!
