This is really embarrassing but I like to buy food on sale. I know, it sounds really cheap like I’m buying gray meat and rotten apples, but hopefully ‘sale food’ is just a store pushing a new item, not one approaching death. These coconut bars for instance. They were on sale at Whole Foods. First you have to get past the name: Frutstix. To me, Frutstik sounds like synthetic fruit that children eat at sleep away camp in Germany. Note to Frutstik: I almost didn’t buy you because of your semi-fascist name. Secondly, it’s really difficult to think of these ice cream bars as fruitbars. I don’t really consider coconut to be a fruit. As a kid, your mother never put a coconut in your lunchbox to fulfill one of your five daily servings of fruit. Rather than a fruit, I view coconut like a gift from God. I’m going to be bold and say that coconut is my favorite dessert flavor- combine this with dark chocolate and I will worship at that altar. If you feel the same way you should stop whatever you are doing and go buy these right now. Think of a frozen creamy Mounds…actually don’t- these are about 156 times better. The chocolate is better quality (it doesn’t taste waxy), and the center reminds me of coconut gelato complete with little chucks of coconut. Divine, divine, divine.

Kristen while I usually admire your tastes I found my self rather disappointed with your like of the coconut frutstix, I have in fact had said coconut frutstix and rather disliked the flavor and almost choked on one of the coconut bits inside the ice crème, it was truly a traumatizing event. But I wish you luck on your quest to buy cheep foods that are good, unfortunately seeing as my mom used to pack the frutstix in my lunch nine years agao I think these might be one of those sail items on the decline.

I want, I want, I want.
I am currently living in Paris and happy to see your restaurant suggestions, which I just might have to go and try out.
Unfortunately there's no Whole Foods which means no Frutstix for me.
