This may look like Halloween in January...
but it's actually my loot from this weekend's Fancy Food Show!
I can honestly say that I've never
eaten seen so much food in my life! Aisle upon aisle of cheese and chocolate and gelato and grapefruit soda and crackers and jelly bellys. In fact. I was very surprised that Jelly Belly wasn't the sponsor of the whole event. They were in full force both personally:
and through their product line:
Please notice that the back of that motorcycle's side compartment says "Bad to the Bean."
Those are my partners in crime. Ross is my friend from high school looking pleasantly surprised over his burger. At one point he asked the question-
"What makes food fancy?"
And Mark replied:
"If you fancy it."
Mark and his wife Mary are standing behind Ross in the picture- obviously unaware that I'm snapping the shot. Mark and Mary are the parents of one my my students from school and Mary designs all of the costumes for my shows as well. Yay school connections that get me into the fancy food show! I could not try one of these burgers that Ross is munching on because by that time I felt like I was carrying as much luggage as a 747. A small country could have been well fed off of the food here. It was almost disgusting. And I think we only got through about one third of the aisles before before I cried uncle and swore that I would never eat again.
Now it was hard to decipher between all the cheese and salsa and chocolate- but a few products stood out as my favorites:
1) Broth Concentrates from Savory Choice
The Chicken broth that I tasted was smooth and rich and flavored with more than just salt. You can see the packets on the lower left hand corner of my loot picture. Each little pack goes together with one cup of water to substitute for those big cans of broth you keep buying at the store. Oh, you make your own broth and turn your nose up at me? Well, you're special. For those of us who aren't, this is the next best thing.
2) Green Tea Mints from Sencha Naturals
They say that three mints equals all the benefits of one cup of green tea- but I just think the taste is mellow and minty at the same time.
3) Organic Zero Artificial Sweetener
The link isn't working for me (they say they are at www.organiczero.com) but I love the idea of an organic sweetener that isn't sugar to put in my coffee. In the loot picture they are the yellow packets in the upper middle.
So there is your report. I love it when eating is working!
