My Gluttonous Blog Being Slightly Less Gluttonous

There are certain times when givemesomefood seems unimportant and frivolous. Ok, so maybe all the time…and I guess that’s the point: to have something semi-constructive, semi-creative, and a lot of fun to take up my spare time and energy.

Then there are times when givemesomefood seems malicious, ignorant and gluttonous. It represents everything over-privileged and greedy about the United States; my blog is just about me paying concern to something that doesn’t matter to 99% of the earth’s population.

The movie An Inconvenient Truth makes my blog feel like the latter. But that’s ok because I’m going to use my gluttonous blog to advertise this saintly movie. Yes, An Inconvenient Truth is about global warming and I understand how you feel about taking a nice Friday evening or Saturday afternoon to see a movie about global warming.

Too Bad. You should see this movie. You MUST see this movie.

Everybody must see this movie. I don’t care if you are a conservative and don’t like Al Gore. The important point is this: global warming is no longer a political issue- it’s a moral issue. It can’t afford to be partisan anymore. Yes, the movie is scary and will make you feel uncomfortable- kind of like if you were in a car heading toward a cliff- but Al Gore is telling us how we can put on the brakes and not drive off the cliff- and we basically have to put the brakes on now (or else where I’m sitting at this moment is going to be ten feet under water) He is actually pretty amazing in the way he’s thought of every objection that we might have to curing global warming (it doesn’t exist, it might hurt the economy, etc.) and addressing those objections. I can’t urge you enough to see this movie and take action. There is also a book and a website.

And if you don’t trust me as a movie reviewer- I’ll leave you with the words of someone who has a little bit more experience:

“In 39 years, I have never written these words in a movie review, but here they are: You owe it to yourself to see this film. If you do not, and you have grandchildren, you should explain to them why you decided not to.” -Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
